Safer Communities Privacy Policy
Last updated: 11 September 2026
WHO WE ARE
Safer Communities delivers Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training courses across
Australia. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you book
or attend a course, why we collect it, and who we share it with.
If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at
office@safercommunities.com.au.
WHAT WE COLLECT
When you book a course, or when your employer books one for you, we collect:
- Your name, email address and phone number
- The name, email and phone number of the person paying, if that is not you
- Which course you are booked into, and the dates
- Your answer to "How did you hear about us?"
- Any dietary requirements you tell us about, where catering is provided
- The organisation you are attending on behalf of, where relevant
While you attend, we also record:
- Your attendance at each session
- Whether you completed the required online learning
- Whether you were awarded certification
When you use our website we collect standard website information such as the pages
you visit, the site that referred you, and your general location. This is collected
through cookies and similar technology.
WHY WE COLLECT IT
We use your information to:
- Enrol you in your course and confirm your place
- Send you course details, joining instructions and reminders
- Provide the trainer with a class roster
- Register your certification with Mental Health First Aid Australia
- Issue receipts and tax invoices
- Arrange catering where it is provided
- Answer your enquiries and manage rescheduling, transfers or refunds
- Understand how people find us, so we can advertise sensibly
WHO WE SHARE IT WITH
We share your information only where it is necessary to deliver your course:
- Mental Health First Aid Australia, to register your course attendance and issue
your accreditation. This is a requirement of the MHFA program.
- Your course trainer, who receives a class roster with participant names.
- Your employer or the person who paid for your place, where an organisation has
booked on your behalf. They may be told whether you attended and completed.
- Our service providers, who handle payments, email, our website and our booking
records on our behalf.
- Catering providers, where catering is supplied. They receive dietary
requirements only, without names where possible.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else's
marketing.
PAYMENTS
Card payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details are entered directly with
Stripe and are never seen or stored by Safer Communities. We keep a record of what
was paid, when, and for which course.
WEBSITE ANALYTICS AND ADVERTISING
We use Google Analytics and Google Ads to understand how people find our website and
which of our advertisements lead to bookings. These services may set cookies in your
browser and may record that a booking took place, along with its value.
You can opt out of Google Analytics at
https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, and you can manage advertising
personalisation at https://myadcenter.google.com.
HOW WE STORE IT AND FOR HOW LONG
Your information is held in secured business systems accessible only to authorised
Safer Communities staff.
We keep course and certification records for as long as needed to support your
accreditation and to meet our record-keeping obligations. Enquiry records that do
not lead to a booking are kept for a shorter period.
SEEING OR CORRECTING YOUR INFORMATION
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct
anything that is wrong, or ask us to delete information we no longer need. Email
office@safercommunities.com.au and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Some information cannot be deleted on request where we are required to retain it,
for example certification records held for accreditation purposes.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, contact us first. If
you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the
Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was
last changed.
